Ch 285: The Children’s Reunion
The Blood Moon’s light was eerily strange in the night, a massive energy flowing through the air, seemingly awakening some power within humanity.
Ji Chuan, his consciousness hazy, felt the agonizing pain of being bitten by zombies. He used his body to block their path, vaguely hearing Xia Yida’s shrill cries behind him.
His skin turned pale, two streaks of crimson merging into his black pupils. The zombies’ biting movements slowed.
The blurred flesh quickly grew new muscle fibers; in an instant, Ji Chuan was restored.
「Master, I’m not dead?……」
Xiao Hei’s voice echoed in Ji Chuan’s mind. Ji Chuan vaguely remembered Xiao Hei leaving his body before he lost consciousness.
「Yes, you’re not dead. We’ve returned to the past.」
「Master, I feel different from before…」
The previously ferocious zombies now stood dazed, their faces still showing a human-like awkwardness from their recent transformation.
“Just now, you motherfuckers were the most enthusiastic biters!”
Ji Chuan angrily swung a hand blade, severing the heads of the front-rank zombies in half.
The distant zombies stopped and quickly retreated.
“A Chuan! How are you?!”
Xia Yida, pushed back and fallen to the ground, rushed over. Seeing Ji Chuan bitten by zombies, her heart ached. She never expected the man who had protected her entire youth would die protecting her again.
Heaven seemed to hear her prayer. Ji Chuan’s body miraculously restored itself, and those terrifying zombies stopped.
Ji Chuan clenched his fingers, feeling the energy within him. He looked up at the Blood Moon in the night sky, surprised. Why was everything happening early this time?
The zombies appeared earlier, and the Blood Moon was nearly a week ahead of schedule. His time travel seemed to have changed a lot.
He looked at Xia Yida’s tear-stained makeup and chuckled, “I’m fine…”
After saying he was fine, Ji Chuan suddenly remembered something. He touched his chest, a wry smile on his lips.
He was indeed fine, but he was kind of dead.
Once again, he hadn’t escaped the fate of becoming a zombie. It was unclear whether it was fate’s guidance or pure coincidence.
He sensed the presence of the Black Crystal Core Zombie King again. But in the different world, the Zombie King was an independent entity. Was it something Xiao Hei did before he lost consciousness?
Ji Chuan wanted to immediately transfer the three of them back to Aolijiaer, but his feet didn’t respond.
Although he could feel the connection with the zombies, the range was significantly smaller than before…
It was like the feeling during the initial stage of consuming Crystal Cores.
Ji Chuan’s eyes widened. Ignoring Xia Yida’s concerned inquiries, he stood there, carefully sensing his abilities.
Most of his abilities were gone! Only strengthening abilities like Perfect Body, Body Hardening, Enhanced Night Vision, and Regeneration remained.
Heroic Spirit Summoning and Slime were still there!
Ji Chuan immediately activated them; two beams of white light appeared before him.
First, a colorful slime landed in Ji Chuan’s hand. “Xiao Tuan!”
“Puj!”
The other light took a long time to converge. When the Heroic Spirit materialized, Ji Chuan’s eyes widened.
A little wolf pup, about the same size as Xiao Tuan, appeared before him, wagging its tail and grinning at Ji Chuan.
“Are you Xiao Hui or Xiao La?”
The two wolves looked almost identical, and now that it was so small, it was even harder to tell them apart.
Xia Yida was very excited to see the little wolf. She loved fluffy little animals, but her busy work, flying between cities, meant she couldn’t have one.
“Such a cute little puppy!”
That remark seemed to trigger something. The little wolf’s eyes narrowed, and it nipped Xia Yida’s outstretched hand with its milk teeth.
It didn’t hurt. Xia Yida found the wolf’s angry expression a little funny.
“Aow!”
“You’re a wolf; you don’t like being called a dog, right?!”
“Awoo! Awoo!”
The little wolf nodded.
Was it too young? It couldn’t speak yet.
Ji Chuan picked up the wolf and stared at it closely. It was a male.
He put the wolf on the ground, crouched down, and raised both hands.
“If you’re Xiao Hui, pat your left hand; if you’re Xiao La, pat your right hand.”
Ji Chuan watched the little wolf’s reaction.
Without hesitation, the wolf went to the left, raised its paw and patted it. Just as Ji Chuan was about to call him Xiao Hui, it went to the right and patted that hand as well.
Then it returned, wagging its tail.
Ji Chuan was confused. Could Xiao Hui and Xiao La be the same wolf? In this different world, did it, like other gods, lack its original world’s memories? Or was it reincarnation?
“Then I’ll use the first name I gave you, Xiao Hui!”
“Awoo!”
Xiao Hui happily rubbed against Ji Chuan’s cheek. “Just rub; don’t stick out your tongue.”
Besides his strengthening abilities, Ji Chuan found he could also use the power of the Goddess of Luck and the God of Space.
This should be the effect of the God of Faith, but if so, why couldn’t he use Tang Yue’s Rebirth? Was that ability too powerful?
At the last Vortex Gate, Tang Yue seemed to have acquired a new Water-Based Ability. He wondered if she still had it.
He couldn’t use Gu Yunxi’s, possibly because they weren’t close enough. Although he had saved her, she didn’t seem to fully trust him.
What about Song Ci’s? His ability required cards; he couldn’t use it because he didn’t have any? Or was it also because Song Ci didn’t fully trust him?
The new situation gave Ji Chuan a headache, but it was much better than his first apocalypse start; back then, he’d lost a leg and hopped around on one for a long time.
It seemed he had to start cracking walnuts again. For the living, as long as he could get them to become his believers, he could use their abilities without killing them.
This time, he would try to control himself and avoid unnecessary killings. He wouldn’t create the God of Death again.
Without those active abilities, it meant that those he had once absorbed would regain their original abilities in the apocalypse. He didn’t have the energy to save them all anyway; with their abilities, most people should be able to survive.
Ji Chuan frowned, thinking of Han Yesheng.
He had been to Shannan City many times. The Monochrome Crystal Core there belonged only to Xu Xiao. Han Yesheng most likely died in the Ancient Tomb or on the battlefield leading out of it.
He had to prioritize finding and saving Han Yesheng.
Ji Chuan found his schedule packed. He could only control the zombies on a small scale; he couldn’t use the God of Faith’s name to directly collect the faith power of the entire city.
He had a lot on his plate. Many things had happened early. Would the dangers facing the stronghold members also have arrived sooner?
Would Da Zhuang, Xiao Mei, and Xiao Shuai still be in their original positions? And where would Xiao Li be, whom he had never met before…?
Ji Chuan ordered the zombies to clear a path. He walked toward Xia Yida’s plane, using Song Huai’s God of Space ability to store it inside.
When using the God of Space, Ji Chuan felt that the ability wasn’t fully utilized.
This ability could sense the location of all lifeforms within its range, like the Zombie King, and could also actively place them in his space.
This wasn’t unexpected. Song Huai had once taken Ji Chuan to see his space.
What was unexpected was that Ji Chuan sensed the God of Space’s killing move. He experimented with it on the zombies.
With a thought, the space around the zombies distorted according to Ji Chuan’s imagination, and their bodies shattered within the twisted space.
“To use such a powerful weapon as a warehouse?! Song Huai, how incompetent are you?!”
Ji Chuan angrily scolded, Xia Yida looking over in confusion.
