Ch 93: A Smile from a Strong Person

“Damn it, I was just falling asleep when this happens! Are they trying to get themselves killed?!”

Shi Kai stormed out of bed, not even bothering to put on his clothes before rushing towards the ground.

A speed-type Mutated Species daring to provoke the Esper Base like this—that’s incredibly rare, even nationwide.

The entrance to the Esper Base is quite hidden. Ability Users have set up barriers to block scents and sounds, so few Zombies find it.

Even if Zombies do come, they’re instantly eliminated by the Guards.

How this Mutated Species found the place, Shi Kai didn’t bother to think. If it’s a speed or strength-type Mutated Species, it wouldn’t be his opponent.

He needed a quick battle and a quick return to catch up on sleep; he had new Tasks to do early tomorrow.

“Hey, Team Leader Shi.”

Seeing Shi Kai enter the elevator shirtless, Ye Yuwei shyly averted her gaze.

“Ah, the situation was too urgent, so I didn’t put on a shirt. I’ll be fighting soon anyway.”

“No… no problem, I’ll give you my full support.”

“A speed-type Mutated Species causing such a commotion—the Leader is overreacting a bit.”

Shi Kai was naturally straightforward and carefree; Ye Yuwei didn’t respond to his comment about the Leader.

The scene outside the Base was terrifying.

Many former Team Members stood there expressionless, because they had become Zombies under the command of the Leader.

The Base’s Team Members waited for Chi Lin to clear the Battlefield. She is the Base’s most powerful Fire-Type Esper, able to grant those familiar faces eternal peace.

A fierce battle was raging in the sky. Seeing this, Shi Kai immediately prepared to join the fight.

His body was enveloped in sleek Mecha. A moment ago, he was shirtless, but now he looked like a robot.

With strong air pressure erupting from his feet, Shi Kai rapidly flew towards the aerial Battlefield.

Dodging Shi Kai’s laser sweep, the Zombie smirked.

It quickly dashed to Shi Kai’s front, its claws slashing at his chest, only to produce a sharp “clang.”

The Armor blocked the claws’ impact. Shi Kai immediately raised his hand to fire his laser, but found the Zombie had already flown to a short distance behind him.

“So fast!”

Shi Kai was surprised; the attack and evasion seemed to have happened in an instant.

“Be careful, this thing isn’t easy to deal with; it’s fast and ruthless.”

A Water Man was in the sky; it was hard to spot in the night sky without careful observation. Zhang Tai, in his water state, blended in with the night.

Seeing this Mutated Species’s attack method, Fu Chengyu sent Shi Kai and Zhang Tai as the main force to counter it; both have aerial combat capabilities.

Shi Kai’s Special Ability 【Combat Armor】 gave him incredibly strong Armor, capable of resisting most physical attacks.

And Zhang Tai’s 【Mystic Water】 allowed him to transform into a water state, making physical attacks almost ineffective against him.

“Ruthless? So what? It can’t hurt either of us!”

Shi Kai aimed at the Zombie, constantly firing lasers and bullets, but the Zombie was exceptionally agile, not even sustaining a scratch.

This Zombie possessed an absolute speed advantage. Though they could both take to the air, their aerial mobility wasn’t in the same league as the Zombie.

Zhang Tai raised his hand, countless water droplets coalescing in the air, shooting towards the Zombie. They seemed harmless, but when the droplets collided, they exploded with a loud bang.

But the Zombie’s movement was faster than Zhang Tai’s aim. It was like the master of the sky, using its superior reflexes and agile body to change positions at will before the two of them.

It even smiled, mimicking Shi Kai, saying, “Attack all you want, you still can’t hit me.”

It seemed to have discovered that its claws couldn’t hurt the two of them.

The Zombie opened its palm, holding it to its side.

“What’s it doing?”

Shi Kai stared at the Zombie, but it didn’t move.

“Its hand!”

Zhang Tai noticed something; the Zombie’s hand was gathering a spherical object. The sphere was slowly growing; due to its dark color, it was hard to see in the darkness.

And the reason this spherical object was growing was the Zombies on the ground!

“It’s blood! It’s collecting the blood of the ground Zombies!”

Zhang Tai saw a steady stream of Blood Orbs rising from the ground, converging in the Zombie’s hand. He didn’t understand what it was doing, but his premonition was bad.

The Blood Orb grew faster and faster.

Chi Lin was about to clear the Battlefield when she noticed that these Zombies seemed to have significantly reduced activity and slower movements.

Their blood continuously flowed from their wounds towards the sky, their bodies visibly shrinking.

Shi Kai and Zhang Tai didn’t dare stop their attacks, but the Zombie was like a ghost, making it difficult to even catch a glimpse of its afterimage.

“Warm-up’s over.”

With the clear male voice’s ending, the Blood Orb instantly exploded.

Blood rained down like dense insects, flying rapidly towards the two.

Shi Kai raised both arms to shield himself. Although his body was covered in blood, he felt no expected pain.

“That’s it? You’re splashing water?”

Shi Kai found his earlier tension ridiculous. He didn’t expect this technique to be so ineffective.

Zhang Tai, however, was terrified; he found that his water body was merging with the blood, and he felt extremely uneasy.

From his experience, the only Special Abilities that could affect him in his water state were Electric-Type, Ice-Type, and Space-Type.

He hadn’t encountered any other type of Ability that caused him harm.

But the Zombie’s previous technique clearly had an effect on him; what kind of effect, however…

“Ah!”

Zhang Tai felt excruciating pain throughout his body, his head starting to become muddled; his water state was extremely unstable.

Starting from his limbs, his physical form gradually appeared, and he plunged from the sky.

Shi Kai quickly caught Zhang Tai and flew towards the ground; Zhang Tai could no longer fight in the air.

Ye Yuwei looked anxious and rushed over to give Zhang Tai treatment.

But Zhang Tai’s expression didn’t improve.

“Why is this happening? My treatment isn’t working at all?”

Before Ye Yuwei could question it, Shi Kai also noticed something wrong: why did he have a metallic taste in his mouth?

“Ah! Team Leader Shi, the blood on your body is moving towards your head!”

Ye Yuwei was horrified by this sight; the dark blood, like it had a life of its own, was searching for an entry point into Shi Kai’s body.

His Armor covered his whole body, but only his mouth and nose were exposed; even his eyes were covered by a curved visor.

Some blood had already entered Shi Kai’s mouth.

Ye Yuwei wanted to continue treatment, but a strong force pulled her arm.

“Go!”

It was Chi Lin; she had noticed the urgency of the situation; this strange attack was difficult to defend against.

The Zombie in the sky simply watched them coldly, its face bearing a gentle smile from beginning to end.

That smile terrified Chi Lin; it was the smile of an absolute strong person facing a weakling.

It didn’t take advantage of their weakened state to pursue them; that meant it believed that these two were certainly going to die.

“You came out, don’t go back.”

The Zombie that was still in the air a moment ago was now standing before them!
